Westwood Conversions: Crafting Reliable, Bespoke Catering Trailers Built to Last

About Westwood Conversions

Westwood Conversions began with a simple idea — to build bespoke catering trailers that actually work for the people using them every day. Over the years, we’ve grown into one of the UK’s most trusted names in trailer conversions, known for our balance of craftsmanship, practicality and long-term reliability.

Run by a father and son team, our approach is hands-on from day one. Mark brings decades of fabrication and joinery experience, while Ben brings modern design, process efficiency and a sharp eye for usability. Together, every build is shaped by experience — not guesswork — and finished to a standard we’re proud to put our name on.

We don’t believe in mass production. Every Westwood trailer is tailored to its owner, designed for real-world use and built to perform under pressure. From coffee trailers to full commercial kitchens, our focus is the same: create something that works beautifully, lasts for years, and looks the part while doing it.

Mark

Mark’s journey into the world of horsebox and trailer conversions began long before Westwood Conversions took shape. Leaving school at 15, he built a lifetime of experience through sheer hands-on skill — from joinery and fabrication to automotive repair and welding. For over 30 years, he ran his own auto garage in Sheffield, fixing, fabricating, and restoring anything with wheels.

His early years spent welding sills, repairing car floors, and fabricating panels made building trailer frames, hatches, and backplates second nature. Every weld is strong, penetrating, and built to last — a standard that defines his approach to all aspects of the business.

Mark’s perfectionism underpins everything we do at Westwood Conversions. His motto is simple: if it’s not good enough for him, it’s not good enough for anyone. He leads on the exterior fabrication, structural framework, and full running gear servicing, ensuring every conversion that leaves our yard is safe, durable, and finished to the highest standard.

During the 2020 lockdown, Mark turned his attention to camper van conversions, building sleek, modern interiors that honed his finish and design expertise. That experience led to the first horsebox conversion in late 2021 — the project that sparked the creation of Westwood Conversions and our journey into becoming one of the UK’s most trusted names in bespoke horsebox and catering trailer builds.

Ben

Ben represents the next generation of Westwood Conversions, bringing a modern and forward-thinking approach to the business. Originally set on an academic path with offers from top universities including Durham and Edinburgh, his plans changed when the 2020 lockdowns disrupted his studies. What began as a short break from academia to help his father quickly evolved into a full-time passion.

Now overseeing the interior design, tiling, woodwork, wiring, and plumbing of every trailer, Ben blends practicality with a sharp eye for contemporary trends. His hands-on approach and attention to detail ensure every build not only looks exceptional but functions perfectly in the real world.

As the driving force behind the Westwood Conversions website and blog, Ben also manages the company’s digital presence—showcasing new builds, sharing insights, and helping customers understand the craftsmanship behind each conversion. His vision is clear: to establish Westwood Conversions as the UK’s leading name in bespoke trailer builds, setting the standard for quality, innovation, and reliability.

The Birth of Westwood Conversions

What began as a lockdown project quickly evolved into something far greater. During 2021, we began building horsebox and catering conversions as a small father-and-son venture — combining Mark’s decades of hands-on experience with Ben’s drive for modern design and efficiency. Over the years, that partnership has developed into a seamless balance between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary vision.

Now trading under the name Westwood Conversions, established in late 2025, we’ve taken everything we learned from those early builds and built a new brand that reflects who we are today: focused, professional, and dedicated to quality. While our experience dates back several years, Westwood Conversions operates independently as a new trading identity — continuing the same high standards, but under a fresh direction and fresh principles.

At the heart of Westwood Conversions is one simple aim: complete perfection and customer satisfaction. Every detail, from the smallest fitting to the final polish, matters. This brand represents the finishing touch of everything we’ve built and refined over the years — it’s not just a business, it’s our baby.

What Makes Westwood Conversions Different?

At Westwood Conversions, every trailer that leaves our workshop is the result of two generations working side by side. Mark brings over 30 years of hands-on mechanical, fabrication and joinery experience — the kind of traditional craftsmanship that only comes from decades of doing it yourself. Ben brings the modern eye, trend awareness and digital understanding that today’s customers expect. Together, that mix of old-school skill and modern innovation is what makes our builds stand out.

We’re a father and son team, which means there’s no ego and no tiptoeing around feelings — if something isn’t up to standard, it’s said bluntly and then fixed. That honesty is what keeps our work consistent and ensures that every build leaves here perfect. It’s not personal, it’s pride.

Every single conversion is approached with one goal in mind: to create a trailer that doesn’t just look the part, but performs flawlessly in the real world. Whether it’s a full catering conversion, custom interior, or specialist fit-out, everything is designed for long-term practicality, durability and finish.

That’s what makes Westwood Conversions different — two generations, one shared standard. If it’s not good enough for us, it’s not good enough for anyone.

Our Workshop

Based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, just off junction 35A of the M1, our fully equipped workshop is where every Westwood Conversions trailer is designed, built, and finished by hand. Because we live and work on site, quality control never stops — we’re constantly refining our methods and improving every detail.

Even when a trailer is finished, in the few days before collection we’re still seeing it daily. We’re waking up to it, walking past it all weekend, and always spotting those last little details that most would miss. Living here gives us a unique advantage — we never truly clock off and go home, because this is home. That constant exposure means every build gets extra time, extra care, and extra attention before it leaves.

All of our catering trailer and horsebox conversions are built entirely in-house, from welding and fabrication to tiling, wiring, and finishing. This hands-on approach ensures every project meets the same exacting standards and reflects our focus on durability, craftsmanship, and long-term reliability.

Being a family-run business gives us complete flexibility and oversight — no subcontractors, no shortcuts, just precision-built conversions that proudly represent the Westwood name.

Why Choose Westwood Conversions?

Choosing Westwood Conversions means choosing experience, precision and pride. Every catering trailer conversion and horsebox conversion we build is the result of years of hands-on work, genuine craftsmanship and complete commitment to getting it right. Based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, we’ve built a reputation across the UK for creating clean, reliable and beautifully finished conversions that are ready to trade from day one.

We don’t rush projects out the door — we treat each one as if it were our own. Every cut, weld and tile is done carefully and with purpose, because for us, perfection isn’t optional. Our trailers are designed to be both practical and professional, combining functionality with a finish that stands out.

What makes our conversions different isn’t just how they look — it’s how they work. Every electrical, plumbing and storage system is designed to make your business more efficient, safer and easier to run. From the moment we start your build, communication is clear, progress is transparent, and quality is guaranteed.

We’re not a big, faceless company — we’re a father and son team who live and breathe this business. We live on-site, we’re reachable seven days a week, and we genuinely care about what we deliver.
